THIBAULT Jean-Thomas. Application de la perspective linéaire aux arts du dessin.
Paris, Mesdames Thibault, Jules Renouard, Bance aîné, Carilian-Goeury, 1827.

In-folio (353 x 274 mm): XV-168 pp. Red half-basane with corners, smooth spine with quadruple gilt filleting between the false boxes, author and title stamped in gold (contemporary binding).

Rare posthumous first edition.
Our work is complete with the portrait by Gérard, the frontispiece and the 53 steel plates after the author's drawings.

The work was brought to light by Chapuis, a pupil of the author. Chapuis was a collaborator of Étienne-Louis Boullée, one of the fifteen academicians who sent the National Assembly a proposal for the construction of the National Academy of Arts.
Thibault was involved in numerous constructions, transformations and restorations during the First Empire, including the palace at La Haye, the château at Petite Malmaison and the Elysée Palace.

Corners rubbed, a few scratches on the boards, spine slightly rubbed, interior with minor foxing.
